The UFC is looking to kick off 2021 with a bang, as they get set to launch into a series of three events in just eight days on “UFC Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi. But the intrigue doesn’t start and finish with the action inside the octagon.
On this week’s episode, we look ahead to the fights that matter on the UFC’s first fight card of the year, with former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway taking on rising contender Calvin Kattar in what looks set to be an all-action main event encounter at 145 pounds.
But before we dive into the weekend’s fight card, we discuss two of the biggest talking points in the sport, as UFC president Dana White gets set to do his level best to persuade 29-0 lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov out of retirement for at least one more fight, while the man the UFC most likely wants to face him, Conor McGregor, gets set to face Dustin Poirier in the main event of the first pay-per-view card of the year, UFC 257.
